READ MORE about Estonian educational portal:

Portal Koolielu forwards information about different events in the educational life in Estonia and elsewhere: conferences, competitions, the possibilities of supplementary education and leisure activities.

Web environment offers teachers free and controlled study materials, also the possibility to communicate with other teachers in forum.

Information here is mostly directed to the teachers of Estonian comprehensive schools but also to everyone who is interested in education. At the moment most of the portal is in the Estonian language, but we also mediate educational information from the whole world through the great number of web sites and links.

Twice a week important problem or event is presented at the front page to offer everyone to think along. Every day new information about the events in the life of education and culture is published. For example: information about a new exhibition in the virtual art centre.

The section of articles offers interesting reading material to teachers as well as other people who could be interested in education.

In the forum people are welcome to discuss and express their opinion about different educational issues.
Everyone visiting the portal can send his ads and news

The portal encourages teachers to use technology and enrich the academic classes. This is also the aim of the subdivision Study materials where the teachers may find lesson plans, work sheets for students, and useful links completed and found by their own colleagues. For example: the grammar exercises for English classes and ecological learning environment about the cleanness of water.
Reviews about the simulation games in social studies (history and social study) and environmental studies (biology and ecology).
The portal provides teachers with links and reviews of educational software, the bigger part of which has reached Estonian schools thanks to Tiger Leap Foundation .

Tiger Leap is a national program that aims to develop the Estonian education applying up-to-date information and communications technologies.
The program has been directed to comprehensive schools most of all but it also embraces preliminary and vocational education. The real activity of the program was started in 1997.
In the autumn of 2001, the Tiger Leap Foundation and the Intel Corporation started a new program of supplementary schooling for teachers - "Arvuti koolis" ("Computer at School") that is the Estonian version of the international trade mark "Teach to the Future". It is an international schooling program that aims to encourage teachers to use and integrate information technologies more effectively in their classes.
The Tiger Leap Foundation supports publishing Koolielu's portal.

Koolielu's portal is one of the projects that aims to develop the Estonian education, it supports the qualitative changes, provides teachers with possibilities to find information about education and schools in Estonia and the rest of the world.

Our overall aim for the future is to become a full and equal member of eSchoolnet and forward the news about the Estonian education in English or any other language spoken in Europe, to the rest of the world.
